GODLINESS
Archbishop of Bangalore,
Most. Rev. Bernard Moras
ETHOS Institute has been formed in response to Blessed John Paul II's call to "Christian Ethos"

Ethos Institute is an initative of lay Catholic missionaries, with the blessings of Archbishop Bernard
Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore. The institution is not an official academic program of the
Catholic Church but an Association of Faith under Holy Spirit Interactive Ministries.

Holy Spirit Interactive (HSI) is a Lay Catholic Apostolate recognized as an Association of Faith and
Outreach (Canon 312,2/ 314/ 317,1) by Bishop Paul Hinder of the Vicariate Apostolic of Southern
Arabia. MoreLove, the India face of HSI is a humble Ministry in India, representing the Church in the
domains of Morality and Pro-Life. MoreLove is a Ministry in the Archdiocese of Bangalore. As a
Ministry, we duly submit our audited financial reports to the Chairman of the BCCRS.

Working with the Church on the chapter of Biblical Academics for the Laity, Ethos Institute responds
to the need for a more profound understanding of the mystery of salvation in Jesus Christ. This
urgently calls for higher studies and scholarship so that the mind of the Church is correctly
understood. ETHOS Institute aims at complimenting the Church in conducting such studies in
accordance with Catholic doctrine as held by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

Members of the Institute, in harmony with the Magisterium of the Church, as expressed especially in
the Second Vatican Council, seeks the fullest Human and Christian knowledge about humankind.
Deep-seated always in the salvific Mystery of Christ the Redeemer, the Institute promotes the worth
and meaning of human life by discerning the norm of human behaviour in the individual, in the family,
in civil society and in religious faith through promotion of Pro-Life.

Simply put, this institution is nothing more than the efforts of the Laity for the Laity with the blessings
or the Church authorities. As John Paul II says: "Ethos refers to inner form, the soul, as it were, of
human morality … To reach it, it is not enough to stop ‘on the surface’ of human actions, but one
must penetrate precisely the interior” (TOB, 24:3)

Secularism and the media and even mental health professionals have fostered the notion that sexual
restraint is inherently bad for us – and many of us have believed them. But does this make sense?
We encourage self-restraint all the time: don’t steal, don't vandalized, etc. So the Church is teaching
this world the true value of human life.

These, and a great multitude of other restraints, are considered normal and healthy. But why do
people cry “pathology” as soon as someone suggests restraint for the sexual appetite? At this
Institute, we aim at countering the quasi manifestation of concupiscence with equipping the Laity
with the knowledge of Moral Theology and Christian Ethos. ETHOS Institute aims at honoring the
Magisterium, Tradition and Ethos of our faith and to enlighten the faithful in a new dimension as John
Paul II says "The new dimension of ethos is always linked with ... the liberation of the heart from
'concupiscence'".
Dedicated to and under the Patronage of His Holiness, Blessed John Paul II
